Will these contacts from my CRM when copied over to my iPhone merge with the existing contacts on my iPhone or will a duplicate contact be created on my iPhone?
The contact record inside your CRM account must be tagged with the tag name you have set up inside your Settings - SyncML fields for Outgoing and Incoming.
If you do not set up a sync tag which is applied to the contacts that you wish to copy over to your iPhone, then if you continue with the contacts sync you will copy ALL of your CRM contacts over to your iPhone.
Please select your contacts inside your CRM carefully to ensure that you apply the sync tag only to the contacts that you wish to be copied over to your iPhone.
If a contact inside your CRM account already exists on your iPhone and the contacts record inside your CRM account is tagged with your sync tag then using the scenarios below; the following will happen:
The contact will be added as a new contact on your iPhone - in addition to the 'existing' contact on your iPhone if:
The contact copied over from your CRM account has any additional information such as a Last Name or Company name added inside their CRM account record that is not recorded on the iPhone.
For example, if the contact on your iPhone is called 'Cheryl' with their mobile number recorded BUT the contact inside your CRM account is called 'Cheryl Leach' with the same mobile number recorded but with additional information such as a home phone number, email address and company name then the contact will be copied over to your iPhone BUT it will add the contact as an additional person on your iPhone.
If the contact on your iPhone is called 'Cheryl' for example and the contact inside your CRM account is called 'Cheryl' and their mobile number is the same on both your iPhone and inside your CRM account BUT they have additional contact info such as an email address and home number stored inside their CRM record then when copied over to your iPhone the contact info will merge together with the existing record that is stored on your iPhone.
Please note: If you remove your sync tag from your contact inside your CRM account then the contact will be removed from your iPhone contacts. If you re-apply your sync tag to your contact inside your CRM account then the contact will then be copied over to your iPhone once more.
